Website redesign
A new website without losing what the old one earned.
A redesign should fix the problems people actually hit: pages that break on phones, a contact form nobody receives, news that stopped in 2019. It should not throw away years of search rankings or leave you locked into a platform you cannot leave.
When a redesign is the right call
Not every dated site needs rebuilding. If the structure is sound, a refresh and a set of fixes is cheaper and faster. We say so when that is the case.
A rebuild makes sense when the site cannot be made to work on a phone, runs on software that can no longer be updated safely, is built on a page builder you have outgrown, or is so hard to edit that nobody does.
What the redesign includes
Protecting your Google rankings
Most of the traffic lost in a redesign is lost at launch: pages move, old links break, and search engines treat the new site as a stranger. We record every indexed page and every page that gets visits, map each one to its new home, and check the redirects after launch.
We also submit the new sitemap and watch search coverage for the weeks after launch, fixing anything that drops out.
You own it
The domain, the hosting account, the code or the CMS account and the content are in your name. If you stop working with us, the site keeps running and you take everything with you.
Questions
Common questions
How long does a website redesign take?
A small business or school site of up to about 20 pages usually takes three to six weeks from agreeing the scope to launch. Most of the variation comes from how quickly content and feedback come back.
Will we lose our Google rankings?
Not if the move is handled properly. We map every existing page to a new address with permanent redirects, keep the content that ranks, and monitor search coverage after launch.
Can we keep WordPress, or our current platform?
Often, yes. If the platform is sound and you are comfortable editing in it, we redesign within it. If it is the source of the problems, we explain why and recommend an alternative.
How is the price set?
After a free website check we quote a fixed price for an agreed scope. It does not change unless you ask for something outside that scope.
Free website check
Not sure whether you need a redesign?
Start with a free website check. It will tell you whether fixes are enough or the site needs rebuilding.
